Deleting a branch is permanent. Although the deleted branch may continue to exist for a short time before it actually gets removed, it CANNOT be undone in most cases. Continue?
I'm not sure this is going to matter in the near future when direct messages hide metadata. In that case you probably will want your PoW because the event will be produced by a randomized public key that the relay will not know.
